New Fuel Efficient Cars

Today there is a powerful spotlight shining on the topic of new fuel efficient cars due to the logical emphasis on saving money in a less than perfect economic climate. The manufacturing of smaller vehicles continues to trend upwards which from a market perspective breeds lower more competitive prices as a whole.

New Fuel Efficient Cars

It is not only that new fuel efficient cars are more competitive in price but there just happens to be a consumer focus on keeping more money in their wallets at the time of purchase and throughout the lifetime of owning the vehicle in which they invest in.

Many of the fuel efficient cars have seen dramatic sales increases over the past several months. This is due in part to the fact that they are very low priced often new cars under 10000 dollars and that they are getting in the mid thirties highway as far as miles per gallon ratings go.

For example the Hyundai Accent which currently has a manufacturers suggested retail price of $9,970 and an invoice of $9,872 which keeps it at an under 10000 dollars base price. The Accent GS three door model boasts numbers such as a rating of 27 MPG city and 33 MPG highway. These numbers are achieved with a 110 horsepower 1.6 liter 16 valve engine. This model has a reputation for being both comfortable and fun to drive.

The price of fuel over the past couple of years has played a dramatic role in how consumers drive and how often they drive. This in combination with the down economy has helped to fuel many incentives which are created to entice sales of new fuel efficient cars.

The Cash for Clunkers program was a good example of this and although this program is now in the history books the idea of factory and dealer incentives and special financing options lives on. However mixed opinions may be the success of these programs generally reinforces the fact that consumers will make purchases when the value is there and the price is right. However it is the fact that the cost of driving these vehicles continues to pay off long after the initial low purchase price which makes these real bargains.

As many dealers across the nation scramble to maintain the flow of new car buyers onto their car lots they are making allowances in addition to the factory rebates which are typically around $1,500 cash back and the special low interest rate financing available for qualified buyers.

The 2010 Honda Accord starting at $21,055 manufacturer suggested retail price has been able to sustain its popularity over the years for a combination of reasons including its ability to combine a full size sedan presence with fuel efficiency and a high performance look and feel.

With a 177 horsepower 2.4 liter i-VTEC 4 cylinder engine the fuel usage remains impressive with a rating of 19 miles per gallon city and 29 miles per gallon highway. The 2010 Accord continues on with the Honda tradition of providing exceptional power with fuel efficiency in their roomy 4 door sedans.

One of the most efficient subcompact car models currently on the market is the Toyota Yaris which has a manufacturer suggested retail price of $12,205 and which offers a 1.5 liter 4 cylinder engine with the choice of either a five speed manual transmission or a four speed automatic transmission. This ultra low emission vehicle rated at ULEV-II has a fuel rating of 29 miles per gallon city and 35 miles per gallon highway.

The current trend toward designing roomy and powerful new fuel efficient cars will most likely continue and as the 2009 models make way for the 2010 models the efforts of consumers remain to focus on getting not only standard incentives but additional price breaks as well in the current market conditions.
