The GLS 4-door starts at $14,195, the GS 5-door at $14,595 and the SE 5-door begins at $15,795. The 2012 Hyundai Accent has been redesigned and many of the changes have been well received by those who have purchased one of these new cars, and who we have spoken to about their purchase. While the good points have far outweighed the bad, the common points which were not so well received have been the plain/basic looking design of the interior, while this was only a small percentage of the opinions. It is important to keep in mind that these are new cars under 15 000 so expectations should equate to the reality that the primary draw of these cars is their ability to provide affordable means of transportation.

This includes not only the purchase price but the long term operational costs (fuel efficiency) of the car as well. The general opinion regarding the look of the exterior however has been that it is a notable improvement over the previous models. This new look delivers an appearance of a more sophisticated and pricey vehicle.

Similarities among the three various trims of the 2012 Accent include the standard 138 horsepower 1.6L I4 engine with the EPA rating of 30 city/40 hwy. Also standard among each of these is the six speed manual transmission. As you start looking at options however you will find the six speed automatic version available as well. It is in the new looks of the trims which you will find the most noticeable differences at first glance. As with any new car, the list of options and add-ons can become quite long. This holds true for the Accent as well and for the additional expense you can wind up with some pretty impressive features. Convenience wise this includes the Bluetooth phone system which is completely hands-free, USB inputs and steering wheel mounted controls.

With any of the smaller, less expensive new cars there is often a considerable trade-off for affordability and economic benefits over cargo space. The new Hyundai Accent actually does a good job of creating lots of places for you to take advantage of the available storage space. For instance there is the splitting fold down seats which means that you can fit larger objects into the vehicle. Typical door pockets and an array of various holders and compartments do add up to providing you with the ability to store, and keep your things out of the way inside the vehicle.

Overall after test driving the 2012 Hyundai Accent GLS (loaded with many options) we were impressed with the cars handling and the fact that the economical benefits would be appreciated long after the initial purchase. As for the owners of the latest Hyundai Accent they seem to be pleased with the fact that the changes which Hyundai have made to the new model have been noticeable improvements over its predecessors. Standing out from the crowd in its class for fuel efficiency as well as horsepower make the new Accent an appealing mix of what should be the most important characteristics of new cars under 15 000 in today’s fast paced yet budget minded world.
