2011 Nissan Versa Under 10000
The 2011 Nissan Versa Sedan comes in four different trims which are the 1.6 Base, 1.6, 1.8 S and the 1.8 SL. The 1.6 Base is one of the few new cars under $10,000 and is also one of the lowest priced new cars available, with its manufacturer suggested retail price of $9,990. Keeping in mind that this is the base model in the Versa sedans and its primary draw aside from price is in the fact that does offer great fuel economy at 26 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway.
The Nissan Versa has maintained high marks in reviews by owners of the vehicle for some time now and provides one of the highest horsepower offerings as well as the most passenger room found in its respective class. Add this fact to the 36 month and 36,000 mile warranty on the vehicle (five year 60,000 on the powertrain) and you can see that the quality and value is well backed. While all of the 2011 Versa trims are under $20,000 and three out of four of these are new cars under $15,000. The MSRP of the other three trims are $11,420 for the 1.6, $14,100 for the 1.8 S and $16,650 for the 1.8 SL.
During our test drive of the 1.8L we noted how the interior of the car is more like an actual midsize car. This is a real plus considering that the fuel efficiency is as impressive as it is. I would keep this in mind if you are looking for a new car which gets good gas mileage during city as well as highway driving.
This is really important currently as the cost of gasoline continues to aggravate and pinch the wallet of everyone. Also, there are plenty of added features to be found on the 1.8L including multi-disk CD player with MP3 capabilities. Sure this is still just a basic new car but if you are able to add these over and above the Base then you will have the comforts, low price point and roomy passenger and cargo space which the Nissan Versa is so noted for.
All of the smaller cars in this price range typically reflect the fact that value is the point of focus for consumers who are looking at them. If you are familiar with the other new cars under 10 000 then this will likely not be anything new.
While we did not test drive the 1.6 Base the 1.8L did give us a good feel for what the Versa sedan is going to deliver in any of the four different trims which are available. Like the other vehicles in this class, they are great for people who need a reliable, affordable means of daily transportation.
The reality is that if you need a vehicle for frequent long hauls on the highway with a lot of cargo, then a larger more powerful vehicle will probably be a better choice. However for a low overall cost of ownership the Versa is definitely not without its pluses. One last note is that the more expensive trims (with the larger 1.8L engines) get only slightly less miles per gallon than the Base. The EPA rating remains strong with the 1.8 S at 26 MPG city and 31 HWY, and the 1.8 SL getting 24/32.
